This Privacy Policy explains how Daring Spirit Oy ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data when you use DearHiringManager.io ("DearHiringManager", the "Platform", or the "Service"). Daring Spirit Oy is the data controller for personal data processed through the Platform. Our registered address is Hiihtomäentie 14, 00810 Helsinki, Finland (Business ID 3461256-6).

By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to visitors, registered users, paying customers, and anyone who submits an email address, job posting URL, payment information, or other data through the Platform. It does not cover third-party websites, job boards, LinkedIn, payment processors, or enrichment providers that we link to or integrate with — those services have their own privacy policies.

2. Data We Collect

We may collect the following categories of personal data:

Contact information: email address, name (if provided), and any information you include when contacting us.
Account and authentication data: login credentials, session tokens, and verification codes if you create an account or sign in.
Usage data: job posting URLs you submit, lookup history, saved results, credit balances, subscription status, and feature interactions.
Payment data: billing status, transaction identifiers, and plan details. Full card numbers are processed by our payment provider (Stripe) and are not stored on our servers.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, referring URLs, timestamps, and cookies or similar identifiers used for analytics and fraud prevention.
Communications: emails we send you (lookup results, receipts, support replies) and optional marketing messages if you opt in.

The Platform also returns publicly available business contact information about third parties (such as hiring managers). That data comes from public sources and enrichment providers; we do not control what those third parties publish.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use personal data to:

deliver hiring manager lookup results and related product features;
manage accounts, credits, subscriptions, and billing;
send transactional emails (results, receipts, security alerts);
send optional weekly job-hunting tips if you subscribe;
prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, and detect fraud;
improve the product, fix bugs, and analyze aggregate usage patterns;
comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your email with recruiters, employers, or data brokers.

4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar requirements, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

Contract: to provide the Service you request, including delivering lookup results and managing your account or subscription.
Legitimate interests: to improve the Platform, prevent abuse, maintain security, and analyze anonymized usage — balanced against your rights.
Consent: for optional marketing emails and non-essential cookies where required by law. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.

5. Third-Party Processors

We use trusted third-party services to operate the Platform. These may include hosting providers, database services (Supabase), payment processing (Stripe), email delivery (Resend), analytics (Google Analytics), authentication, contact enrichment APIs, and AI model providers. Each processor receives only the data necessary to perform its function and is bound by contractual data protection obligations where applicable.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Lookup history and account data are kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see Section 10).

7. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality, session management, and analytics. Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors use the Platform in aggregate. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may limit some features.

8. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in Finland, the European Union, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. When we transfer data outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms as required by applicable law.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You may also withdraw consent for marketing at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any marketing email or contacting us. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
